Venezuela: Trans receive medical care in specialized center

It is a fact that in Venezuela there transgender population-level public policy. And that’s not all health centers are not prepared to meet it in a respectful manner there barriers, often institutionalized, to categorize these people as crazy, perverted, criminal and a series of labels that are born of prejudice..

Given this reality and seeking to change paradigms, the Civil Family Planning Association ( Plafam) opened this January 5 the first Centre for Health Care for Transgender Population Caracas, Venezuela.

Thanks to the support of the Embassy of Canada through the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (IGF), and the project entitled "specialized health transgender and gender variability Care" crystallized. Susana Medina, a psychologist and Head of the Department Projects, Resources and Assessment Plafam, explained that there are four objectives.
