United Nations General Assembly voting record on the resolution on Extrajudicial, Summary and Arbitrary Executions

Published: February 17, 2011

Please see the attachment for the United Nations General Assembly voting record on the resolution on Extrajudicial, Summary and Arbitrary Executions.  The matrix compares (a) each country’s voting record on the original vote in Third Committee to strip language on sexual orientation from the resolution, and (b) each country’s record in the vote on the floor of the General Assembly to restore language on sexual orientation.    By listing each country’s vote (either in favor, against, or abstaining) this matrix reveals those nations whose position either softened (in many cases by strong advocacy), remained the same, or worsened between the two votes, and may be a good proxy indicator of nation’s stances on sexual orientation issues.
