Report: Anti-Semitic, Anti-Gay Saudi Textbooks Used in UK

Published: November 22, 2010

LONDON (Nov. 22) — Saudi Arabian textbooks filled with anti-Semitic and homophobic material are being used in British classrooms, according to a BBC documentary.

The program, due to air tonight, found that around 5,000 British Muslim children were being taught that the "main goal" of the Jews is to "have control over the world and its resources," and that anyone found guilty of gay sex should be stoned or burned to death, or thrown off a cliff. Other textbooks explain how the hands and feet of thieves are chopped off, and their stumps cauterized to prevent them "bleeding to death."

The books are used in a network of 40 weekend schools — which aren’t part of the state-run education system — that teach the Saudi national curriculum to children ages 6 to 18. One text for children as young as 6 reportedly asks them what happens to the soul of an unbeliever when they die. The correct answer is "hellfire."
