Phillipines Health Chief slammed over anti-gay HIV comments

The Health Chief of the Phillipines has come under fire for suggesting that gay children should be closely monitored in case they catch or spread HIV.

Enrique Ona, who was made Secretary of Health in 2010, said that "parents should rein in their homosexual children and get them tested."

The comment came during an address at a conference to assist young people who may eb at risk on contracting the virus.

It happened less than a week after World AIDS Day.

As a result, gay and lesbian advocates in the Asian country have called for Ona’s resignation.
