Penington Institute is searching for men who have sex with men (MSM) and also inject drugs, for a research project they are conducting around the use and knowledge of injecting drugs, as well as the needs of people who inject drugs.
John Ryan, CEO of Penington Institute, told GNN they wanted to learn about the real issues people who inject drugs face.
“This research will help harm reduction services, such as Needle and Syringe Programs, be more responsive to the needs of people who inject,” he said.
The institute is interested in finding out whether the current health needs of people who inject are met, and whether they get the information they need around reducing harm when injecting drugs.
“It is important to hear stories from many people who inject so that we can incorporate a range of injecting experiences into our findings,” Ryan said.
The Institute is particularly looking for men who have sex with men for this project, as research has suggested gay and bisexual men have different drug behaviours than traditional populations who inject drugs.
