The Kenya Sex Workers Alliance, together with Kenya’s premier male sex workers organization, Health Options for Young Men on HIV, AIDS and STIs (HOYMAS), are set to launch their new offices in Pangani area, off Thika Road.
The offices, to be the nerve center of the sex work movement in Kenya, are being funded by Aphia Plus and the African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA).
The National Coordinators of KESWA, John Mathenge and PheliSter Abdalla told Identity Kenya that the offices will house the national alliance as well as other sex worker led groups and will be their enter of operations.
‘One side of the floor belongs to KESWA and the other belongs to HOYMAS. The HOYMAS space will be used to provide various services offered like nutrition, health referrals, condom and lubes distribution, and others,’ said Mathenge.
The HOYMAS offices boasts of a kitchen, board room and what Mathenge calls ‘A sex workers Lounge’ that will be a room for relaxation and medication room for MSW who are living positively with HIV.
The first in Kenya, Mathenge said the lounge room will be a room for not only relaxation and medication but also a room for teaching about adherence to ARVs since most of the members of HOYMAS are living with HIV.
