How are participating women and transgender people in he process of the Global Fund in Latin America?

Issues: Determine the level and importance of the participation of the communities of women and transgender people in the relationated process to the Global Fund in Latin America.

Description: We applied a electronic survey to Board members (civil society members) of CCMs in the Regíon asking about the effective and real participation of the women community and transgender people in the process of preparation of proposals, implementation, CCM constitution and financing of the Programs of the Global Fund in their Countries, of 20 only 7 response the survey.

Lessons learned: Our major obstacle is the non- response of the majority of CCMs , Howevher we can deduce: the CCMs report a large percentage of women in their government bodies: 40% to 70% but is not means that these represents the political agenda of the women in the country; in the CCMs that response the survey , HIV women have participation like Chairs or Board members but the percentage of HIV women in the CCM is only 2% or 10% , dont exist a strong participation of TB women, and the groups of transgender people and sex workers dont have an active participation because in any countries their organizations are not legally constituided , this is a strong obstacle to access to financing , The CCMs dont have specif reglamentation about participation and involvement of women, transgender people and other vulnerable populations.

Next steps: We want develope this survey in other ocuntries incorporating other issues for have a clear picture of the real situation of the participation of these groups.
