Hawaii expected to pass transgender labor anti-discrimination bill

Hawaii’s Senate Judiciary Committee passed an anti-discrimination bill that would protect transgender people from discrimination against their gender expression in the workplace.

The bill previously passed in the state House.

Discrimination against transgender people is currently illegal in housing and public accomodations, but the current ban on employment discrimination was established through rulings of the Civil Rights Commission and not enacted by law. The current bill would remedy that.
