CARMONA, Cavite, Aug 30 (PIA) — A group from the gay community participated in the recent orientation on Sexually Transmitted Infections/Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (STI/HIV/AIDS) conducted by the local government in cooperation with the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
The orientation which was held at the municipal penthouse aims to spread awareness and educate the public about the virus. It also seeks to educate the gay community about the effect of these diseases and encourage them to stay safe and be responsible.
During the discussion which was facilitated by Dr. Maria Hilda Bucu of from the PHO’s Infectious Diseases Department, an HIV warrior whose name was withheld shared her experiences in battling the disease for nearly 2 decades as she conveyed to the participants the importance of taking care of the body to live a long life, including the emotional sacrifices she experienced after finding out the positive result of the test.
The gay community actively participated in the discussion and committed themselves to stay safe and assist the local government in disseminating information with regards to the dreadful effects of the said virus.
