EMIS survey on sex, relationships and health for MSM

EMIS is a survey about sex, relationships and health for Men who have sex with other men (MSM). It is anonymous, safe, and takes 20-30 minutes to complete the questionnaire. The survey is being carried out by an international group of researchers and health workers in public health institutes, universities and charitable gay or HIV organisations in 25 languages across 32 countries. It is funded by the European Commission.  The survey is the largest MSM survey ever in the whole world, with over 140 000 respondents.

On http://www.sigmaresearch.org.uk/files/facebook_guide.doc you find a document for Facebook-beginners (an easy guide on how to use Facebook for promoting EMIS).

1.    Join the event and invite all your MSM-friends to the event, pushing your friends to spread the event as well.  Using Facebook for recruitment is a unique chance to get more respondents, particularly from countries where the relative response rate has been comparatively low. The idea is to find at least one "seed" for each country, which means a person or organisation (NGO, bar, etc.) that has lots of followers on Facebook and can snowball-spread invitations to join our survey.

2.    For those who have Facebook-groups/pages for your organization/cause, please spread the link, by posting it on the profile of the group/page. You could also send it out on messaging all participants of the group/event/page.

3.    We also want you to disseminates the links through your national network as well as your own Facebook-network.

4.    If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to contact Robert Jakobsson
