Another victims of the article 347 Bis of the Cameroonian Penal Code.
Three Young Cameroonians were arrested in the night of 25 July 2011 in front the Madison Night Club (Montée Mimboman) in the city of Yaoundé on the allegation of homosexuality. The three men who were in a car, were arrested by the police of GMI (Groupement Mobile d’Intervention) of the city of Yaoundé. They have subsequently kept for investigation to the Judicial Provincial Police Direction (DPPJ) where they spent a week. Two of them Jonas (19 years) and Francky (20) have subsequently been remanded in custody at the Central Prison of Yaoundé (Kondengui) on the allegation of homosexuality. The third man, who is the owner of the car and thanks to his financial resources and his health problem, was able to negotiate his relaxes at the (Provincial Directorate of the Judicial Police).
The two (Jonas and Francky) will appear again in the Ekounou court of Yaoundé next August the 18th which they will be may be fix on their situation.
Alternatives-Cameroon once again:
-Condemns this criminal madness exploited by Article 347 Bis;
-Urges the Cameroonian government to stop all arrests based on sexual orientation of individuals real or perceive;
– Calls again for the repeal of the article 347 Bis of the Cameroonian penal code;
