Action Alert: Oppose the "Kill the Gays" Bill in Uganda!

Published: May 10, 2011

Protesters have filled the streets of Kampala and other major Ugandan cities in recent weeks, crying out against rising fuel and food prices and raising other social concerns. The police used unnecessary violence to put down the demonstrations.
As anxiety spreads, President Museveni is getting ready to be sworn in for a fifth term on May 12.
What do you think the Ugandan Parliament is doing?
The Parliamentarians are tending to another "priority": increase persecution of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LBGTI) Ugandans and their families. A parliament committee is holding hearings on the controversial Anti-Homosexuality Bill that has attracted international condemnation for its harsh and broad penalties.
The bill could be voted on this week. Ugandan activists fear it could pass. President Museveni’s urgent actions are needed to stop this.
We are urging Ugandan President Museveni to take action now. Join us by signing our letter below!
