TO: President Goodluck Jonathan, Federal Republic of Nigeria
I’m joining Ifeanyi Orazulike and other Nigerians in calling on you to stand on the side of human rights – by refusing to sign the anti-gay bill recently voted on by the Nigerian Senate. This law puts Nigeria at odds with the numerous Human Rights Conventions it is a signatory to.
President Goodluck Jonathan, the measure of every great democracy is how it treats its minority citizens. ALL Nigerians deserve the same rights and privileges guaranteed by the constitution. Don’t sign this misguided bill in to law.
26,660 people support this campaign. Help us get to 50,000.
Nigeria is pushing forward a law that would make it a punishable offense – of up to 14-years in prison – for anybody to go to a gay bar, to work for or be involved with LGBT organizations, or to be in an openly gay relationship.
This Monday, our friend Ifeanyi and other Nigerian activists are speaking out at the UN against this draconian bill with a simple message: We Are Not Illegal.
Add your voice to Ifeanyi’s urgent appeal to the Nigerian President and he will deliver your signature this Monday.
